• For a Christmassy look throughout the house, spread boughs of evergreen and red bows on the mantel, tables and around mirrors.
   
• Here's an idea for a centerpiece: Fit a florist's foam into a tube pan (a good excuse to buy a shiny new bundt pan), fill with greenery or holly, and add tall, thin candles.
