Winn-Dixie Signature Recipe
Date and Nut Bread
Preparation Time: 15 min.
Cooking Time: 50 min.
Serves: 12
Ingredients:
1 cup Dates -- chopped
1 cup Water -- boiling
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 cup Sugar, granulated
1 medium Egg, whole, raw -- beaten
2 cup Flour, white, all-purpose, enriched, bleached
1 teaspoon Baking powder, double-acting, sodium aluminum sulfate
3/4 cup Walnuts, dried, chopped -- or choice of nut, chopped
Preparation:
1. In a large bowl, add baking soda and boiling water to dates; let cool.
2. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.
3. Place mixture in a loaf pan.
4. Bake at 350F for approximately 50 minutes.
