Winn-Dixie Signature Recipe
Autumn Fruit Compote
Preparation Time: 5 min.
Cooking Time: 25 min.
Serves: 6
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Syrups, maple
1/2 cup Apple juice, canned or bottled, unsweetened
1/2 cup Wine, port
2 large Pears -- cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 large Apples -- cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
2 cup Cranberries -- fresh or frozen
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
1 stick Cinnamon stick
Preparation:
1. Combine maple syrup, wine, lemon juice, and apple juice in a medium saucepan and simmer until hot.
2. Add pears, apples, cranberries and cinnamon stick.
3. Simmer until fruit is soft, approximately 15 minutes; remove fruit.
4. Cook liquid with cinnamon stick until it is slightly thick; remove cinnamon stick.
5. Add fruit back into mixture and gently coat with liquid.
6. Serve warm or chilled.
7. This is delicious served over pound cake, sponge cake, or waffles.
