Winn-Dixie Signature Recipe

Winn-Dixie Pink Grapefruit Sorbet

Preparation Time: 2 hours, 20 min.
Cooking Time: 10 min.
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

5 medium Grapefruit, pink -- (4 to 5 pink grapefruit), freshly squeeze 1 1/4 cup juice including pulp, grate zest of one pink grapefruit
3/4 cup Sugar, granulated
2/3 cup Water
3 tablespoon Lemon juice -- fresh

Preparation:

1. In saucepan over medium heat, stir sugar into water and lemon juice. Heat till sugar is completely dissolved, then simmer 5 minutes longer. Cool syrup completely.

2. Combine syrup, grapefruit zest, grapefruit juice and pulp, and cover. Place in refrigerator until very cold.

3. Pour into shallow pan, cover with foil and chill in freezer for 20 minutes. Stir thoroughly to fluff mixture, then return to freezer. Fluff mixture with a whisk or fork every 20 minutes. Note: Sorbet may take up to 2 hours to freeze completely.

Alternate method: Pour mixture into ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's directions.
